Do you think that your team is just the best? Is it really? Check out this site to discover which teams really are the worst? What league has the most satisfied fans? What cities teams get the best value from their professional sports teams? It's all here inside the Frustrated Fan Index.

I have created a method whereby all professional teams can be compared to determine how satisfied their fans are. This method is called the Frustrated Fan Index. The FFI is calculated by looking at five key events that each professional league has in common. These events are obvious and easily quantified.

  • Winning a championship in each sport
  • Winning the conference in each sport
  • Appearing in the conference final each sport
  • Winning the division in which you compete
  • Last appearance in the playoffs

The times since the last appearances are then weighed by a factor of importance attributed to each achievement. This gives more weight to winning the championship and progressively weights the other achievements. The results are then applied to a scale that keeps the range of scores between zero and ten as people seem to be able to relate to a decimal result more easily. All components of the index can be searched as separate indexes and have been scaled using the worst as the benchmark for a decimal score.

I have added the ability to select the type of index that you can search by and the ability to limit the number of entries that are displayed. While the Frustration Index gives the best overall view of the frustration experienced by the fan, you can now focus on what is more important to you. Are you more interested in just winning the championship? Do you want to know what teams have performed the worst in reaching the playoffs? Just select the index type, limit the search and then pick the criteria. I have added the ability to 'drill-down' on each entry to show the components that make up all index values displayed. This can be done by following the links provided on each graph or breakdown chart.

Currently planned is to more accurately reflect the frustration by altering the probability based on the teams that were in the league at the time that the team last achieved the accomplishment. With so many league expansions over time this may have an interesting impact on the results that are currently displayed. Additional features to be added include the ability to alter the weightings that I currently give to each achievement so you can project your own frustration index. This will take some work and may take a while. Visit often and look for new features...

If you have any comments please feel free to contact me at Frustrated Fan Index. There is a forum to the site so suggestions can be discussed and expressed as to better rate each teams performance. I would also like to be able to introduce sports teams from other national and international sources to give a world wide rating for each team.
